RA Resources 2019-2020

Dear 2019-2020 Resident Advisors,

We are excited to have you on our team this year! This online manual will provide you with a vast amount of information regarding the Resident Advisor position, the GSAS residence halls, GSAS student affairs, and Harvard University as a whole. The information presented in this manual is a combination of policies and procedures, University facts and resources, and tips and advice from former GSAS Resident Advisors. You will see that the manual is presented in sections: RA Responsibilities, GSAS Facilities Information, Residential Procedures, RA Tips and Advice, Event Planning, and University Resources. The manual is a compilation of information from students and staff, past and present. This manual is a living document, constantly and ever-changing. At the end of the year, will ask you for contributions, but please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any suggestions for edits prior to the close of the year.

Prior to RA training, please take some time to review each section of the manual. We will review the information in this manual very closely during training, and will practice different situation and scenarios. I assure you that you will feel more prepared by reviewing this information before training begins – you never know, perhaps there will be a quiz!
